Q: I would like to participate on the volunteer programme for 2010, please advice.

A: The volunteer programme will be one of the important components of the World cup. Government will join hands with the Organising Committee on a volunteer programme. The planning and implementation of the programme are still under discussion, to be launched around March 2008. Watch the website and FIFA.com for details.

Q: What are the business opportunities related to the 2010 FIFA world cup?

A: Although certain areas of commercial activities are limited to FIFA and its sponsors, there are still openings for local businesses. Q: I am an entrepreneur and would like to know where I go for financial assistance.

A: The Department of Trade and Industry has funding programmes in place to assist entrepreneurs. Contact the DTI call centre for more information: 0861 843 384.
You can also contact the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa. The Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa has a strategic business units dedicated to investment in businesses related the upcoming Word Cup. The focus is on the funding of economically viable businesses related to 2010, such as:
• tourism
• information technology
• media and motion pictures
• bridging finance, revolving credit and guarantees for a variety of service providers.
The IDC can help you develop a project or idea.
Applications for finance should be submitted by way of a business plan setting out the project details and financial projections. Care should be taken to submit as much detail as possible; this will shorten the possible funding assessment period.

Q: What are the rules regarding the use of the use of the FIFA logo.

A: The FIFA logo, mascot, slogan and posters are protected marks and can only be used if you have a contract with FIFA.

Q: What about the use of the words and symbols like 2010 and South Africa 2010.

A: FIFA has applied for protection of certain words like 2010. The Minister of Trade and Industry has called for the public to comment on this request, with the closing date the 2 October 2007. Thereafter the Minister will make a decision and there will be a campaign to communicate the rules to South Africans.

Q: I want fans to stay in my Bed and Breakfast. I would like to have my B&B graded, who do I contact?

A: For this first time for this world cup official accommodation will include non-hotel accommodation. However, official accommodation must be graded.

A: MATCH is a FIFA company responsible for Ticketing, Accommodation and Event IT. To be official accommodation for the World Cup, establishments must sign a contract with MATCH, and there are penalities if you fail to provide what you promised in the contract. Q: I would like to verify the existence of a FIFA lottery scheme.

A: FIFA and its sponsors do not have any lottery schemes to benefit the public or itself.
