Each 2010 FIFA World Cup™ ticket is an official document that provides evidence of the ticket holder’s permission to enter a stadium on match day. The 2010 FIFA World Cup™ General Terms and Conditions for the Use of Tickets (GTCs) are the specific terms and conditions on which that permission is granted.
The GTCs are printed in all paper Ticket Application Forms, provided online at www.FIFA.com, and are issued prior to sale through all ticket sales channels. The GTCs are also printed on every Official Ticket Confirmation, and on the backs of the tickets themselves (in the form of an abridged version containing the key information of the (GTCs). The GTCs reflect the basic contract between the ticket holder and 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Ticketing (Pty) Limited.
The GTCs describe the rules required for the customer’s participation at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. For example, the GTCs: (a) require ticket holders to sit in the seat assigned to the ticket for crowd control purposes; (b) allow FIFA to eject a fan whose behaviour is harmful to other fans; (c) provide consent to facilitate the broadcast of the matches worldwide; (d) prohibit tickets from being used in ambush marketing campaigns by companies that are not sponsors of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™; (e) prohibit tickets from being subject to unauthorised transfers; (f) identify basic risks inherent in attending sporting events and require the fan to accept those risks, (g) identify what will happen if a match has to be cancelled for unforeseeable reasons, etc.
